Stonesoft has recently joined Q1 Labs Security Intelligence Partner Program meaning that Stonesoft Log Server can be configured to forward logs to QRadar in Log Event Enhanced (LEEF) format. This makes it possible to receive logs from Stonesoft Security Engines, Firewall/VPNs, IPS Engines and SSL VPNs to QRadar security information and event management tool. Log Forwarding support has actually been introduced in SMC 5.3.4 version. |

While becoming familiar with LEEF format, we also developed out-of-box logging profile for LEEF log format. Stonesoft Management Center can thus receive logs from LEEF compatible devices, thereby enhancing Stonesoft’s own third-party event management support. The logging profile will be introduced in SMC 5.4.0 version.

We are seeing bigger and bigger customer environments all the time. That’s why we have already taken actions to scale the management support to cover more devices. SMC 5.4 version can efficiently manage up to 2000 nodes that is 100% more than what was promised for SMC 5.3 version.

In addition to policy based VPNs, it is now possible to define tunneled interfaces for the firewall and use them in Routing and Route-based VPN. The protocol support covers GRE and IP-IP tunneling protocols. It is also possible to run dynamic routing over route based VPN. |

Most important and frequently displayed SMC labels and messages are now parametrized and collected into a single text file. You can basically turn SMC into any language by translating about 5000+ labels/messages and adding a new locale file manually to your client machine. If you are lazy you can even use Google Translate for this – we have got feedback from that it works surprisingly well e.g. for Chinese and Russia. |

SMC provided the “System Report” answering many regulatory compliance aspects in 4.3 version. Now in SMC 5.4 we’ve focused on enhancing the quality of Audit Logs. The main driver has been to add new audit functions that make it easier for our customers to prove compliance against regulatory compliance standards like PCI-DSS 2.0. |

The tool allows you to collect tcpdumps from any interfaces and from any FW clusters simultaneously through a single GUI operation. It is also possible to set filters for traffic captures per interface. |
